Bhutan and Beauty are synonyms. The beauty of Bhutan that I saw in pictures had truly captivated me for a long time. But seeing this country in real is altogether a different feat. The most intriguing part to me is that this is the only country in the world, that measures its prosperity based on its GNHI( Gross National Happiness Index) and not the GDP( Gross Domestic Product).
If you want to travel to Bhutan, my advice would be to take at least a week off, if not more, to bask in the beauty of this paradise. So here are some of the places and activities which I truly enjoyed.

Thimpu

Thimpu is the capital of Bhutan, and it’s the only capital of a country which does not have a red light signal. Interesting, isn’t it? The city is situated in the higher ranges of the Himalayas and hence offers a captivating view of the forests and the river nearby. This place also offers cafes, bars, restaurants and nightclubs where you can socialize. Hence this is a city that blends the traditional ways of Bhutan with its urban life.

Jigme Dorji National Park

This national part located in Bhutan and is one of the top travel destinations in Asia for wildlife. Along with wildlife, there are cultural sites worth visiting inside this park itself. This park is the home of several wildlife species like snow leopard, Bengal tiger, musk deer, barking dear to name a few, along with more than 300 species of birds. These features make the park one of the best places to visit in Bhutan.

Rafting in Paro Chhu

We all know that river rafting is a thrilling water sport, however, rafting in Bhutan’s Paro Chhu will offer you a unique experience. Apart from racing against the rapids, down the gurgling river, we are surrounded by the lush green valley where one can notice rare birds flocking all around. Rafting activity here is rated as moderate, so now most of you can participate in this activity without much of a worry.

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking is one of the best ways to witness the Buddhist culture and monasteries around. Bhutan has some outstanding trails amidst beautiful landscape for biking lovers. Paddling through the rugged terrain, you pass through many villages and monasteries. While enjoying your eco-friendly means of transport, you can also take a peek into the local culture and lifestyle.

Tiger Nest Monastery Trek

To tell you the truth, a photograph of this place was one of the reasons I visited Bhutan. Its picture alone was enough to give me goosebumps and inspired me to undertake my trip to Bhutan. If trekking is your cup of tea, then this is the place you should be visiting in Bhutan. Clinging to a cliff, this monastery is one of the most frequently visited places by tourists from around the world. This unique monastery is surrounded by a beautiful emerald forest and has a soothing ambience to it. This isolated monastery can only be reached by trekking through the rugged mountain paths. And as for me, it was all worth it.
