Seattle is a seaport city which is a home to a large tech industry and is full of adventure.

“And Seattle isn’t crazy anymore. It’s a big dot com city.” – Krist Novoselic

Seattle is a beautiful city with amazing landscape which leaves you bewitched with its beauty. On one hand is the beautiful natural landscape of Seattle, and on the other, is the big technological cluster that the city holds.

SPACE NEEDLE & SEATTLE CENTRE

Space Needle- an icon of Seattle

At a comfortable walking distance from Olive at 8 in downtown Seattle (where I was staying), was the Space Needle. This observation tower, constructed in 1962 in Seattle Centre is an iconic structure and is a must visit whilst in Seattle. It offers spectacular views of Downtown Seattle skyline, Mount Rainier, Cascade & Olympic mountain ranges, Elliott Bay and nearby islands.

The entertaining Seattle centre

Seattle center is a nice place to hang out to savor in the captivating culture of one of the greatest art cities of the world. There are nice parks, museums (Chihuly Garden & Glass, Museum of Pop Culture, Pacific science center etc.), an open amphitheater and a huge food court. Sipping cold fresh tap beer with a slice of pizza (from MOD) and enjoying the lovely weather was bliss. That’s what I preferred to do as against visiting the museums as I simply couldn’t resist lazing around that afternoon, gazing at the clear blue skies and enjoying the subtle cool breeze. I’m sure I would have spent a few dollars and visited Chihuly or MoPOP, had the weather been wet, which usually is the case in Seattle.

BOEING MUSEUM OF FLIGHT

The museum of Flight- Boeing Museum, Seattle

If planes fascinate you and if you’re interested in aviation history, do visit the Museum of Flight. Amazingly, it is the largest independent, non-profit air and space museum in the world. You actually get to see and walk inside some real big planes like the B747, Dreamliner, etc. but I was just flown away to get inside a real Concorde aircraft. There are some simulations as well to make you feel the adrenalin flying through you. Kids would love it.

AMAZON GO

Amazon Go store, Seattle

My blog on Seattle won’t be complete without sharing my wonderful experience at ‘Amazon Go’ – The first and the only store of its kind in the world opened to public in January 2018. It’s as simple as walking in, grabbing the stuff you want and just walk out! Yes, you read it right! There’s no checkout required, no teller counter, simply grab and Go. Amazon’s ‘Just Walk Out Technology’ uses cameras and sensors to detect and track your movements when you pick-up or return a product to the shelves. The items keep getting added or removed from a virtual cart and once you walk out, a receipt is sent shortly with purchase details and the amount is charged to your Amazon account. Isn’t it amazing? The Amazon Go app is your key to enter and exit the store and you could take your friends and family along by tapping your key and letting them in. The store has a wide selection of groceries, fresh bakes and breads, beverages and some delicious snack items prepared there by their chefs. Again, a must visit when in Seattle!

Signing off from Seattle, hope you’ve liked my first-hand experience and recommendations. Do stay tuned in for more….a new destination, some new experiences…
