The untouched beauty of Andaman is matched by few and it captivates your senses right from the moment you land here. With not many tourists heading in this direction yet, it’s quite a mesmerizing experience here, strolling through the calm beaches and its turquoise water. Here are the places which I enjoyed the most, on my trip to this beautiful island.

Scuba Diving

The most frequented island in the Andaman is the Havelock Island. Radhanagar Beach there, has to be one of the best in the world. Havelock Island being a major scuba diving centre has to offer a lot of unique under-water activities. The diving centres here offer leading-edge gear for diving.
You will be getting a short 15-minute training before the final dive. While there are many scuba diving spots around here, the Aquarium is a good choice for first-timers as it has a steady current. This diving spot is about 8-14 meters deep, with crystal clear waters which are a habitat of corals and butterflyfish.
If you want to enjoy scuba diving during the night, the lighthouse point is the one spot around the island where you can indulge in it.

Stand-up Paddling

Since the Andamans do not have big surfing waves, stand up paddling is a fun way to spend time in the water. Anyone, including kids, who are moderately fit can take part in this activity, which is taught by an instructor. It’s a great experience paddling out to the sea and then just sit there on the board, and watch all the glory around you.

Trekking

Trekking from Mt. Harriet, the third highest peak there to Madhuban, via Kala Patthar turned out to be quite an experience for us. It simply is one of the best trekking routes in Andamans, through long stretches of forests. You might want to carry your camera and binoculars so that you don’t miss to capture the fantastic flora and fauna during the trek

Relax at the Kalapathar Lagoon

This lagoon is situated at Little Andaman, which is less known, as most tourists go to Havelock and Neil. It’s remote location makes it less frequented by travelers. For those who are lucky enough to get to this place, it offers a calm natural swimming area surrounded by shady patches of sand to relax. Once here, you can enjoy the pristine beaches, waterfalls, great and affordable food, alcohol and accommodation.

Enjoy Bird Watching at Chidiya Tapu

If you’re a bird watcher, a trip to Chidiya Tapu has to be in your plans while you are here in the Andaman. This tiny island is home to a variety of exotic birds. Emerald doves, sea eagles and parakeets being some of them. A whole bunch of Indigenous and migratory birds can be seen here, making the place enticing for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.
