Give yourself at least 5 days in the city if you want to see the beauty of London. The British have their own culture and their ways of doing things. Just doing a little research will help you to understand some of the different customs in London and what should and should not be done.
Check the Weather and pack
The weather in London can be very temperamental so make sure that you check the weather before you start packing for your trip. January is typically the coldest month, with an average low of 7 degrees and July is the hottest with an average high of 19 degrees.
Wear comfortable shoes when hitting the streets. Layers of clothing will help with the changeable London weather. London is also famous for sudden rains so be ready!
Getting around London
While traveling in London, it is likely you might take a ride in one of those famous London black cabs. Now there are double-decker buses to take you everywhere in London and if you plan to stay a little longer then get an Oyster Card as its cheaper and all you have to do is swipe it to get on all the buses and the Tube.
The tube is another excellent way to travel in London, which is the world’s oldest underground railways and the fastest public transport.
Visit the Top London Markets
London markets are ideal shopping destinations for everything from food to flowers, modern art to antiques, and clothes to curios. One must visit sprawling markets such as Spital fields, Camden Market or Portobello Road, or find gifts from local designers and artisans at the likes of Greenwich Market.
You don’t need to shop in the biggest stores to feel like you’ve got the best buys. Any store you go in, you won’t leave empty-handed. Westfield shopping mall, Oxford Street and Kensington High Street are all popular shopping destinations.
Eat and Drink at a Traditional British Pub
Food in London is not as expensive as one might think. It is varied and plentiful, the pubs are worth visiting for the food & beverages, they are often full of history, character, and quirk which make them a truly interesting place to sit down, relax and eat.
Pubs are an integral part of the British culture and no visit to London is complete without joining the locals at the bar in the evening. Londoners like to drink. The bars and pubs are mostly busy in the evening, especially on weekends.
Go slow, take a few days out just to hang out and see where the day takes you – often those days which are unplanned turns out to be the most interesting ones.
